February was highlighted by David Fincher releasing two of his films on 4K Steelbook, following the footsteps of James Cameron, who made headlines last year by bringing some much-needed upgrades to “Aliens” and “True Lies.” Fincher’s upgrades included “The Social Network” and “Panic Room,” which Sony released only in Steelbooks. Three big Oscar contenders received 4K releases, with “Conclave” getting an upgrade a few weeks after the Blu-Ray came out, and “Wicked” and “Nosferatu” getting 4K Steelbooks.

Some delayed Shout Factory titles finally became available, with “The Last Voyage of the Demeter,” “Vampires,” and “Ghosts of Mars.” Kino Lorber focused on some John Candy releases, with “Summer Rental” on Blu-Ray and “Uncle Buck” on 4K. I’m thrilled with Kino’s focus on comedy titles, with a Chris Farley classic coming next month. Lionsgate Limited continued their releases with “The Third Man,” previously released by StudioCanal, and “You’re Next,” which has had a few releases, including from Second Sight. My favorite release of the month, considering the artwork, is “The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim.” Although I haven’t watched the film yet, the art is astounding. I’d love to give credit to the artist, but I couldn’t find who provided it.

Next month, some highlights include “Deep Blue Sea” from Arrow Video. Their February release of “Cruising” was incredibly well-made and I look forward to seeing the box set for “Deep Blue Sea.” I missed “Wolf Man” in theaters so I’m excited to check it out when the 4K Steelbook is released. I’m also anticipating all the A24 goodness headed our way, with “Sing Sing,” “Babygirl,” and “The Brutalist” all set to release next month. And, as mentioned previously, the Chris Farley comedies “Tommy Boy” and “Black Sheep” getting upgraded is exactly what we need right now.
