June brought a wide mix of physical media releases, and while there was no single unifying theme, a few standout titles made the month memorable. Chief among them was Warner Bros.’ release of the Sean Connery James Bond Collection. The set included the first six films, each housed in its own SteelBook and all tucked into a beautifully padded SteelCase. I really wish more studios would adopt this format—it’s hands down my favorite way to collect.

Runners-up for my favorite release of the month go to Arrow Video’s Dark City, which came in a sleek, premium box set, and William Friedkin’s Sorcerer, which I snagged during the Barnes & Noble Criterion Sale. Honorable mention goes to Decal’s 4K upgrade of Longlegs. Not only did it come in a SteelBook, but they also added a clear slipcover—taking a cue from Lionsgate’s now-iconic packaging style.

Speaking of Lionsgate, they had a fairly eclectic month themselves. They dropped two SteelBooks (Air America and The Way of the Gun), the latter featuring a lenticular slipcover, along with a new Vestron Video release, and a 4K edition of Freaky Tales (2025), packaged in nostalgic retro VHS-style artwork.

Boutique labels had a strong showing this month—and honestly, they made up the bulk of my purchases. My Halfway to Black Friday Sale hauls finally arrived, and highlights included the VSU 4K release of The Golden Child with Eddie Murphy, Dirty Work starring Norm Macdonald, and Jade, continuing my William Friedkin collection. From IFC Films, I added Sleeping Beauty, starring Emily Browning, to the shelf.

Kino Lorber put out a surprisingly strong lineup, including 4K upgrades of Sabrina, Mouse Hunt, The Peacemaker, and Road Trip, with even more comedies teased for the months ahead. From Shout! Factory, I picked up Monkey Shines (my least favorite artwork this month, unfortunately) and Bring It On. They also re-released The Return of the Living Dead and The Dead Zone in new 4K SteelBooks. And out of nowhere, Dark Sky Selects dropped a gorgeous SteelBook of Ti West’s The House of the Devil. It’s only a Blu-ray, but still a worthy pickup.

Several major 2025 films made their physical media debut as well. Minecraft: The Movie, one of the year’s biggest box office hits, got the 4K SteelBook treatment. Novocaine arrived in a stunning SteelBook that pays visual homage to Hitchcock-era thrillers. And yes—I picked up Snow White, despite the online backlash, to keep my live-action Disney collection complete.

Universal released The Ballad of Wallis Island, though sadly, it didn’t come with a slipcover. Meanwhile, The Monkey, based on the Stephen King short story, hit 4K in the U.S.—but I opted for the Zavvi UK version, which features some incredible artwork of the cursed drumming (not cymbal-crashing) monkey. Internationally, Second Sight’s long-awaited editions of The Nice Guys and Talk to Me finally landed on my doorstep as well.

Looking ahead to July, the release I’m most excited for is Sinners on 4K SteelBook. It’s not only my favorite movie of the year so far, but the artwork is absolutely jaw-dropping. I’m already tempted to double dip and grab the standard 4K version too. Close behind is Marvel’s Thunderbolts, another title in my top five of the year.

Rounding out my July wishlist: Billy Madison and Small Soldiers both make their 4K debut, and I’m still torn between versions of Ace Ventura: Pet Detective—do I go with the SteelBook or the Shout Select slipcover? (I swear I don’t need both… probably.)

And can someone please tell me what’s going on with the SteelBook for Fallout Season 1? It’s been sold out on Amazon since release and still just says “temporarily out of stock.” I’m seriously considering ordering the UK edition. Should I pull the trigger?
