The Waits family is looking forward to a nice, quiet getaway in the country with their upcoming homestay in the sleepy town of Nilbog, although son Joshua has strong misgivings about the trip. The young boy is being visited by the ghostly apparition of his late Grandpa Seth, who warns him that they’re heading into a land of man-eating goblins with the power to disguise themselves as humans. Sure enough, when the Waits arrive in Nilbog, things are ominous from the outset – the locals are frosty, all the food is tinged a bizarre green color, and the only milk available in town looks like it’s been left out for days. Whilst the rest of the family attempts to make the best out of these bizarre circumstances, blissfully unaware of the grave danger they’re in, it’s left to Joshua – guided by Grandpa Seth – to lead the charge against the vicious goblins and their evil queen before they’re next on the menu!
Celebrated by cult film fans around the world as one of the “best worst” movies of all time, TROLL 2—helmed by prolific Italian filmmaker Claudio Fragasso (Monster Dog, Beyond Darkness), who appears under the pseudonym of Drago Floyd, and shot in Utah with a local cast—is a sheer masterclass in cinematic insanity packed full of WTF moments, choice dialogue, googly-eyed goblins, people being gruesomely transformed into human plants, and an entirely unexpected erotic application of an ear of corn. Now newly restored in 4K from its original camera negative and loaded with a spellbinding array of brand new bonus features, Vinegar Syndrome is thrilled to serve up the green goo-spattered cult classic that is TROLL 2 in its world UHD premiere. Detective Anna Manni is on the hunt for a sadistic serial rapist and murderer when, whilst working her way through the various artworks on display in Florence’s Uffizi Gallery, she falls into a trance and faints. After regaining consciousness and returning to her hotel room in a dissociative state, Anna is brutally attacked and raped by the killer before she eventually manages to escape his clutches. In the wake of this ordeal, Anna’s psychiatrist explains to her that she suffers from Stendhal syndrome, a rare condition in which individuals become overwhelmed in the presence of great works of art. Returning to her hometown of Viterbo where she has been advised to rest up, Anna continues to psychologically unravel, all the while sensing that the killer has unfinished business with her…
A standout in the ’90s filmography of Italian horror maestro Dario Argento (Suspiria, The Bird with the Crystal Plumage), THE STENDHAL SYNDROME marked the director’s return to his native country after a brief US excursion with Two Evil Eyes and Trauma. More intensely mean-spirited than his previous offerings, THE STENDHAL SYNDROME sees the master filmmaker continue to experiment with a range of striking visual techniques, aided by veteran cinematographer Giuseppe Rotunno and complemented by a mesmerizing score from famed composer Ennio Morricone. Now newly restored in 4K from its original camera negative and accompanied by a wealth of bonus features, Vinegar Syndrome is delighted to unveil THE STENDHAL SYNDROME in its UHD world premiere.

Shek Sang has quite a dilemma. Born inside a glowing rock and discovered by a meager carpenter who raised him, he became aware of his otherworldly powers early on. When he defeats a pack of soldiers forcefully rounding up laborers, he finds a way into the Princess’s compound to escape being hunted down. The Prince Regent, eager to realize his secret Intelligence Nation agenda of slaughtering any baby he deems unintelligent, is plotting to kill his niece, the Princess, in his quest for power and a nation of pure intelligence. Now, aware of the evil danger threatening the Princess, yet unable to divulge to her his true identity, Shek Sang plays the role of a lowly houseboy and bird-trainer for her parrot. As the Prince Regent discovers an equally powerful Evil Baby with which to challenge Shek Sang, and the Princess falls in love with his alter ego, a reckoning is looming.
A deliriously entertaining epic of Chinese folklore, Hercules and Superman tropes, dynamic fight sequences, and Wuxia fantasy that could only could come from Shaw Brothers, DESCENDANT OF THE SUN stars Derek Yee (Buddha’s Palm, director of Viva Erotica), Cherie Chung (Once a Thief, Peking Opera Blues), and Tien-Hsiang Lung (Five Element Ninjas, House of Traps). Directed by Chor Yuen (The Magic Blade, Haunted Tales), it features stunning photography by Lam Wah-Chiu (The Seventh Curse), as well as excellent stuntwork from Tang Chia (One-Armed Swordsman) and Yuen Wah (Enter the Dragon). BLUE CITY is part of our Vinegar Syndrome Archive collection, celebrating forgotten cinematic oddities from the video store era. This collection was inspired by our own brick & mortar video stores, with locations in Bridgeport, CT, Denver, CO, Toronto, ON, and Pittsburgh, PA. Unique to this line, each hand numbered limited edition release will come fitted in a specially designed, bottom loading VHS inspired slipcase, while also including a double-sided poster.

After five years of adventures on the road, born rebel Billy Turner has finally returned to Blue City, his South Florida hometown where his father was the longtime mayor. Upon discovering his beloved father was mysteriously murdered a year prior, and that corruption and vice may have seized the coastal city, Billy vows to avenge his dad and uncover the truth no matter what hell he has to raise. Relying on his final local friend, Joey, along with Joey’s sister and police chief Reynolds, Billy takes aim at his father’s affected widow and a sleazy nightclub owner. But in the slippery new Blue City, it’s gotten a lot harder knowing just who to trust.
Released after a slew of films featuring the “Brat Pack,” BLUE CITY is one of a few attempts at taking its stars beyond high school, and is likely the most ambitious. This action thriller based on the novel by legendary hardboiled author Ross Macdonald (Harper) boasts a script co-written by Walter Hill (The Warriors, Southern Comfort) and Lukas Heller (What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?) updated with a hard shot of 1980s Miami Vice style. Featuring a bold score by the legendary Ry Cooder, the film stars Judd Nelson and Ally Sheedy (both of The Breakfast Club) and David Caruso (Jade, TV’s CSI) alongside veteran actors Scott Wilson (The Exorcist III, TV’s The Walking Dead) and Paul Winfield (The Terminator, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan). Vinegar Syndrome Archive is right pleased to take you down south for this seedy actioner, newly scanned in 4K from its original camera negative.

New Rose Hotel
⍟ Cinématographe ⍟
| CIN-027 CASE |
1998 | 93 min | 1.85:1 / English DTS-HD MA 5.1
Directed by Abel Ferrara
Starring: Christopher Walken, Willem Dafoe, Asia Argento
Taking its name from the Lumière Brothers invention of the same name, Cinématographe is a new sub-label from Vinegar Syndrome that seeks to fill gaps in the canon of American cinema. Offering a mix of auteur driven studio films produced during the New Hollywood era of the late 1960s and 70s all the way through the indie boom of the 1980s and 90s, Cinématographe will explore the wide breadth of American moviemaking, spanning numerous genres and scales of production. Curated and produced by Vinegar Syndrome’s Justin LaLiberty, each limited edition release will be housed in a specially designed, cloth-bound, media book with embossed foil titles and custom molded disc trays accompanied by a slipcase featuring newly commissioned art and an individually numbered J-card.
This special limited edition J-card MediaBook slipcase (designed by Steak Mtn.) is limited to 3,000 units and is only available on our website and at select indie retailers. Absolutely no major retailers will be stocking them.
In the near future, Fox (Christopher Walken, King of New York) and X (Willem Dafoe, Light Sleeper) are industrial spies who are hired by corporations to bring sought after employees to the highest bidder, leaving their current employers in the dust. When they are hired to help move Hiroshi (played by anime artist Yoshitaka Amano), a brilliant scientist, from a German company back to Japan, they enlist the help of a call girl named Sandii (Asia Argento, Boarding Gate) to seduce him. The actions of Fox, X and Sandii result in a play of power, sex and violence that takes them around the globe, not knowing who either can trust.
Based on William Gibson’s short story of the same name and adapted for the screen by noted iconoclast Abel Ferrara (Bad Lieutenant, Dangerous Game), who co-wrote the script with regular collaborator Christ Zois, New Rose Hotel is an understated foray into cyberpunk aesthetics at the turn of the millennium that signals a turning point in the career of Ferrara. Cinématographe is proud to present Abel Ferrara’s often overlooked sci-fi thriller in a new 2K restoration from the best surviving film elements.

Directed by Lee Raymond, Robert Freeman
Starring: Rene Bond Jennifer Brooks, Jane Tsentas, Jacqueline Giroux, Starlyn Simone, John Alderman, Bob Cresse
From nudies to roughies to ultra weird regional curiosities, the sexploitation world welcomed any filmmaker working in any genre, so long as the limits of nudity and sex on screen were pushed as far as they could go – but never all the way. DISTRIBPIX, one of the legendary names in the genre (and whose extensive library will be the backbone of this line), will offer single, double, and even triple feature Blu-rays highlighting works from every corner and crevice of softcore smut, from the dawn of nudie cuties to the all-but-hard 70s, with plentiful lost and never on disc films along the way.
This special limited edition Blu-ray comes with a spot gloss hard slipcase + slipcover combo (designed by Richard Hilliard), includes a 40-page perfect bound book, and is limited to 3,000 units. It is only available on our website and at select indie retailers. Absolutely no major retailers will be stocking them.
The Mighty Monarch of Exploitation, David F. Friedman was no stranger to creating jaw-dropping sleaze epics, and in this first entry in a series celebrating his incredible filmmaking career, Something Weird and Distribpix present his final, and perhaps most notorious duo of sexploitation classics, both newly restored in 4K from their original 35mm camera negatives and on Blu-ray for the first time!
In THE ADULT VERSION OF JEKYLL & HIDE, Dr. Charles Leeder discovers the diary of famed Dr. Henry Jekyll tucked away at an antiques shop. Realizing that it will be instrumental in furthering his own experiments, he breaks into the store to steal it, killing the shopkeeper in the process. Now, with Jekyll’s body transformation formula all to himself, Dr. Leeder becomes the sultry “Miss Hide,” who uses her newfound sensuality to seduce – and murder – men and women alike. When a detective starts investigating the strange sex killings, “Miss Hide” is forced to resort to even more brutality to cover her tracks. Directed by Lee Raymond and produced by Friedman’s regular collaborator, Byron Mabe (She Freak), it stars Rene Bond (Fugitive Girls), Jennifer Brooks (Working Girls), and Jane Tsentas (Evil Come Evil Go) as Miss Hyde, this soft-X horror epic offers a nasty twist on Robert Louis Stevenson’s literary classic.
A peaceful Mexican village is besieged by the power-hungry General Esteban and his assistant Sgt. Felipio Latio in THE EROTIC ADVENTURES OF ZORRO, as they take advantage of the local women while forcing the residents to pay high taxes. Don Manuel determines that the only way to bring peace back to the region is for his tough and studly son, Don Diego, who’s studying abroad in Spain, to return and help the people fight back against their villainous oppressors. However, in order to first outsmart his enemy, Don Diego affects an outrageous camp persona at nighttime, donning the cape and mask of the fearless Zorro. As Esteban and Latio attempt to discover the identity of Zorro, Don Diego begins a romantic courtship that threatens to reveal his true self. Produced just at the tail end of the softcore drive-in market and directed by Col. Robert Freeman (Bare Knuckles), this lavish period piece comedy pushes the soft-X as far as it can go, and features a dazzling cast including Jacqueline Giroux (To Live & Die in LA), Starlyn Simone (A Climax of Blue Power), John Alderman (Little Miss Innocence), and exploitation legend Bob Cresse (The Scavengers) as Felipio Latio.

⍟ Seventy-Seven ⍟
| SVN-001 SLIP |
1969 | 87 min | 1.33:1 | English DTS-HD MA 2.0
Directed by Barney Platts-Mills
Starring: Del Walker, Anne Gooding, Sam Shepherd, Roy Haywood
Seventy-Seven is a boutique movie and music label, based in New York City and northwest Connecticut, dedicated to presenting restored vintage titles with unique cultural significance. Founded by Gabriele Caroti, Seventy-Seven delivers these long-unseen works to North American audiences both in cinemas and at home, marking their official, long-awaited debuts.
This special limited edition slipcover is limited to 1,000 units and is only available on our website and at select indie retailers. Absolutely no major retailers will be stocking them.
The debut film by Barney Platts-Mills—“one of the forgotten heroes of British cinema” (Matthew Sweet, BBC Radio 4)—Bronco Bullfrog is “remarkable” (Mollie Panter-Downes, The New Yorker), a “breathtaking time capsule” (Peter Bradshaw, The Guardian), and a “revelation” (Kieron Corless, Sight & Sound).
Seventeen-year-old Del, with no money and nowhere to go, breaks into train cars with his cool, fresh-out-of-borstal (reform school) pal Bronco Bullfrog. Then one day he meets the lovely Irene, and after getting an earful from his dad (and her mum), the young lovers run away together… but to where?
Shot in London’s East End in 1969, cast with Doc Marten–wearing “suedehead” locals and set to a dynamic soundtrack by art-rock band Audience, Bronco Bullfrog has been compared to the work of Mike Leigh and Ken Loach, but with a punk rock spirit. After a minuscule American release following its Edinburgh and Cannes premieres, this “lost gem” (Dave Calhoun, Time Out) returns as a cult landmark, in black and white and Cockney—with subtitles.

Beneath the relentless sun of a picturesque Spanish village, two sisters preside over a boarding house where religious and sexual repression, masked by fanatical morality, hide a chilling secret. Young, uninhibited foreign tourists arrive—displaying a nakedness and freedom at odds with the village’s rigid rules—and their presence ignites a slow-burning tension. When Laura Barkley (Judy Geeson) comes to the village searching for her missing sister, she is drawn into a web of suspicion and mounting dread. As guests begin to disappear, the sisters’ twisted sense of virtue unravels, exposing the darkness festering behind the village’s tranquil facade.
From horror-maestro Eugenio Martín (Horror Express), A Candle for the Devil (aka It Happened at Nightmare Inn, 1973) is a fascinating, feverish blend of Giallo-esque suspense and razor-sharp social critique, targeting the suffocating moral codes and authoritarian shadows cast by Franco’s Spain. Acclaimed by genre devotees as “an underseen gem” and “a must for any Euro-horror collection,” this cult favorite finally blazes onto 4K UHD—uncut and more stunning than ever, restored from the original camera negative for the very first time, and packed with a wealth of brand new and archival extras.

An epic war story of World War II. Scientist Dr. Barnes Wallis believes World War II can be shortened by destroying the Ruhr dams, thus paralyzing the enemy’s industrial nerve center. From arthouse to Canuxploitation, Canadian International Pictures (CIP) is devoted to resurrecting vital, distinctive, and overlooked triumphs of Canadian cinema. This label is focused on the country’s original cinematic boom years – spanning the ’60s, ’70s, and ’80s – occasionally venturing past that period (and the country’s borders) to highlight the films of Canada’s most inspired actors and filmmakers. Vinegar Syndrome’s sister company, OCN Distribution, is thrilled to be representing CIP’s brand new line of home video releases!

Cindy was a hooker trapped in the East End Hustle.
Now she’s getting revenge on those who treated her like dirt.
Cindy (Born for Hell’s Andrée Pelletier) is outraged by the sadism of her pimp boyfriend Dan (Ghost Story’s Miguel Fernandes), so she turns her back on him and her seedy profession. As he attempts to lure her back, she doubles down on her rebellion by liberating new recruit Marianne (Bingo’s Anne-Marie Provencher) and giving safe haven to several of Dan’s most prized employees, crippling his business. As this gang of frustrated sex workers waits for the dust to settle, Dan grows incensed, escalating the dispute into a full-blown war. Leaning into his mafia connections and insatiable appetite for violence, Dan orders vicious retaliation… but Cindy has some vengeful tricks up her sleeve.
An unsung Canadian exploitation classic originally brought to American screens by Lloyd Kaufman’s Troma Entertainment, East End Hustle is a sordid crime saga that finds an unexpected balance of horror and humanity. Reuniting director Frank Vitale with his key collaborators from the acclaimed Montreal Main, this gritty, unblinking revenge saga anticipates future genre staples like Ms .45 and The Ladies Club. Fueled by an urgent sense of danger and a memorably funky, synth-laden score by noted screenwriter Len Blum (Meatballs), East End Hustle is a ‘70s genre gem like no other.

His girlfriend and fellow jockey Abril (Úrsula Corberó) is pregnant, but more invested in the libidinous equestrian underworld than in their drab domestic existence. Remo’s only hope of getting out of debt and starting a new life is riding on Mishima, a thoroughbred specially imported from Japan for his next big race. When Mishima leaps over the fence, Remo winds up in the hospital with a life-threatening concussion. Hunted by the mob and replaced in Abril’s bed by the alluring Ana (Mariana Di Girolamo), Remo dons a disguise and finds himself as herself, wandering the streets of Buenos Aires in a striking mink coat and going by the name Dolores. Spanning more than a decade, this quietly radical trilogy from husband-and-wife filmmakers Huang Ji and Ryuji Otsuka powerfully examines the plight of young women in China through three intimately observed coming-of-age stories—Egg and Stone, The Foolish Bird, and Stonewalling. While each film is a stand-alone feature starring Yao Honggui, taken together, they offer a rare and unvarnished portrait of growing up under the weight of family, gender, and social expectation in a rapidly changing China.
From the hidden traumas of rural girlhood to the silent compromises of adolescence, and finally to the stark realities of early adulthood set against the backdrop of China’s hyper-competitive, TikTok-influenced urban gig economy, the trilogy explores how survival increasingly depends on one’s willingness to navigate a world where everything—including education, work, relationships, and even pregnancy—is treated as a transaction. With unflinching realism and a deep undercurrent of empathy, Huang and Otsuka chart the uneasy intersection of personal agency and systemic pressure in a society undergoing relentless change. A landmark of feminist cinema—intimate, unsparing, and profoundly human.

As if haunted by the soon-to-be ghost of their hometown, they venture into the night and face the threats that await them with fascination and dread. Ominous and dream-like in equal measure, the debut from Alexandra Simpson—and the latest feature from Omnes Films (CHRISTMAS EVE IN MILLER’S POINT, EEPHUS, HAM ON RYE)—is a hypnotic take on the disaster movie.

Created by comedians Anthony Oberbeck and Matt Barats, and director Graham Mason over nearly a decade, The Reveries Trilogy is a series of increasingly complex and ambitious comedy art films that revolve around two mysterious drifters who never speak, but whose inner monologues carry us across a landscape of absurdist one-liners, weird tales, and stream-of-consciousness musings.
Backed by dreamy original scores, cinematic narrative sequences, and hallucinogenic montages created from camcorder footage shot all around the world, The Reveries Trilogy is a singular, unclassifiable experience at the intersection of alt comedy, video art, and underground weirdo cinema.

The following morning, she receives the shocking news that Halbert was murdered at the exact same time as his ominous materialization in her room. Local philosopher and meditator Travis Martin becomes entangled in the investigation when his initials are found carved near the murder scene. In his obsessive search to find the truth and locate the sequestered Geneva, Travis encounters garish hitmen, a mysterious lotion saleswoman, an escaped face-skinning serial killer, a diminutive interrogator, and a supernatural entity named Minks who haunts the local Sizzler after inexplicably returning from the dead. Enter the world of dreams and the shadow of reality in Specter’s Rock; where murder, mystery, and mustard stains are perpetually par for the course.

Twin Cheeks
⍟ VHSHitfest ⍟
| VHSHitfest-020 |
1994 | 60 min | 1.33:1 | English DTS HD-MA 2.0
Directed by Kelly Hughes
Starring: Tom Bliss, Ernest Rhoads, Troy Sinatra
VHSHITFEST has been uncovering and releasing movies on video for over a decade, across DVD and VHS, and is now moving into blu-ray, with the same goal to showcase the most unique, crazy, and obscure movies that they’ve discovered through years of collecting VHS, allowing even more people to actually be able to experience these nearly lost gems in the best versions possible.
This listing is for the standard edition Blu-ray. The limited edition slipcover (designed by Earl Kessler Jr.) was limited to 1,000 units and is sold out. The two versions are identical, aside from the slipcover.
A college student goes undercover as a stripper and male hustler to infiltrate the crime duo responsible for his brother’s death.
Twin Cheeks feels like if John Waters picked up a video camera and made a Twin Peaks homage and sprinkled in a dash of Rainer Werner Fassbinder for good measure. Filmed in a lot of the same locations David Lynch used but with the absurdity turned way up. Kelly Hughes is an unsung legend of the underground and we are so happy to bring his work to more people.
