As 2025 winds down, so too does the year’s slate of physical media releases. November was a relatively quiet month, though a few standout titles still made an impression. My favorite releases both came from Lionsgate, starting with their Lionsgate Limited Exclusive 4K Steelbook of The Descent, as well as the Stephen King adaptation The Long Walk, which arrived as an Amazon Exclusive 4K Steelbook. Both releases featured pristine slipcovers and striking artwork.

Speaking of standout presentation, Arrow Video delivered several notable releases this month, including Outland, Red Planet, and the much-anticipated 4K debut of The Mask. I also took advantage of the Barnes & Noble 50% off Criterion Collection sale, picking up several titles—some newly released on 4K—including Burden of Dreams, Hell’s Angels, and an upgraded copy of The Breakfast Club. I also finally added the long-awaited Stanley Kubrick film Eyes Wide Shut to my collection.

One of the more interesting releases this month came from Shudder with its Creepshow: The Complete Series box set. The packaging resembles a vintage television set, complete with a lenticular screen, and includes every season of the show inside. It’s a fun, eye-catching release that fits perfectly alongside the rest of my Stephen King collection. Several Oscar Best Picture winners also received 4K upgrades, with One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest arriving in a Steelbook edition, while Out of Africa, CODA, and Spotlight all received new standard 4K releases.

As for new 2025 titles, The Conjuring: Last Rites received a 4K Steelbook from Warner Bros. Decal released a 4K edition of their horror film Together, starring Alison Brie and Dave Franco. Universal issued a 4K Steelbook for the Jordan Peele–produced Him, and Paramount brought The Naked Gun to 4K for the first time.

December will close out the year with several high-profile releases, headlined by the long-awaited 4K release of Kevin Smith’s Dogma, which had been tied up in rights issues for years. Lionsgate will also release a Lionsgate Limited Exclusive 4K edition of Battle Royale. Steven Spielberg’s Minority Report is finally getting a 4K upgrade from Paramount, while Paul Thomas Anderson’s Boogie Nights will see a new release from Warner Bros.

New titles such as Bugonia and The Black Phone 2 will receive their physical media debuts, but the real coup de grâce is Arrow Video’s 4K release of the 1990s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles trilogy, which is sure to be a highlight for collectors as the year comes to a close.
