Rebecca’s simply not having an easy time of things. It’s not merely that her life is difficult in 2033, scavenging in the drought-ridden, post-comet ravaged Earth, but her crew of fellow renegades has just been raided by the brutal troops of Water & Power, killing her boyfriend and imprisoning her and her friend Sam. Only the Rippers, a lethal band of engineered half-kangaroo/half-man super-soldiers, are left to challenge Kesslee, the cruel, power-mad leader of W&P bent on crushing the underground and controlling all the remaining water in the world. But now that Rebecca’s got designs on stealing a tank and convincing her new pal Jet Girl to break out of confinement with her, things might be looking up.

A cult film firmly rooted in an equally cheeky cult comic, TANK GIRL infused Jamie Hewlett’s original character with uniquely Generation X traits, proudly independent defiance, and a flippant irreverence rarely seen in female characters of the time. Set in a post-apocalyptic world masterfully designed by Catherine Hardwicke (Tombstone, I’m Gonna Git You Sucka), and boasting a near-endless amount of costumes by Arianne Phillips (The Crow, Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood), particularly for the lead character, few films of the Riot Grrrl/grunge era still hold such vitality. Directed by Rachel Talalay (Freddy’s Dead: The Final Nightmare), with designs by legendary effects artist Stan Winston (and team), as well as a crack soundtrack supervised by Courtney Love of Hole, it stars Lori Petty (Point Break, Orange is the New Black) in the titular role, as well as Ice-T (New Jack City, Surviving the Game), Naomi Watts (Mulholland Drive, Eastern Promises), Jeff Kober (Out of Bounds, The First Power), and Malcolm McDowell (A Clockwork Orange, Class of 1999). Vinegar Syndrome Ultra is thrilled to bring this bold sci-fi adventure to you in an all-new director-supervised restoration from its 35mm original camera negative.

A fledgling film crew, led by the lovable, yet blind, director Larry Benjamin, is hard at work making – or at least trying to make – Benjamin’s latest and most ridiculous movie. But problems with a difficult cast, an inexperienced and distracted crew, special effects that don’t quite work, and more are soon upended when members of the production team begin to be murdered in increasingly strange and convoluted ways. As the rickety production grinds to a halt, and tensions and distrust flare, the mystery assailant continues to strike. Will Larry and his ragtag team of creative misfits be able to band together and unmask the monstrous force hellbent on killing off the movie’s cast and crew before everyone left is reduced to piles of bloody pulp?

Acclaimed filmmaker Lloyd Kaufman’s (The Toxic Avenger) twisted take on a meta-movie, TERROR FIRMER is a splatter-fueled shock-fest-cum-murder-mystery which pushes the concept of bad taste to its wildest and most creative extremes, as only Troma can do. Featuring an ensemble cast of Troma alums including Will Keenan (Tromeo and Juliet), Trent Haaga (Tales of Halloween), legendary “Scream Queen” Debbie Rochon (Tromeo and Juliet), Joe Fleishaker (Troma’s War), along with guest appearances from esteemed filmmakers Eli Roth (Hostel), Joe Lynch (Wrong Turn 2), Matt Stone & Trey Parker (South Park) and Lemmy Killmister (of the band Motörhead) as himself, this wildly over-the-top ode to independent filmmaking at last comes to UHD from Vinegar Syndrome, newly restored in 4K from its 35mm original camera negative and heaped with extensive new and archival extras.

The Phantom of the Opera

| VS-523 SLIP |

Medusa Film | 1998 | 113 min | 1.85:1 | Italian, English 5.1 Surround

In late nineteenth-century Paris, strange things are happening at the Opera House. Legends abound of a mysterious phantom who, raised from infancy by rats, inhabits the subterranean caverns deep beneath the famous building, occasionally emerging above ground to wreak bloody havoc. Enchanted by the voice of the beautiful Christine Daaé, an understudy in the upcoming production of Romeo and Juliet, the phantom quickly brings the singer under his spell, setting himself on a collision course with her would-be suitor, Raoul. As the gala performance of Romeo and Juliet draws near, and Christine falls ever deeper under his influence, the phantom hatches a diabolical plan to secure his young protégeé the starring role – and claim her as his, once and for all.

Based on Gaston Leroux’s 1910 novel of the same, THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA sees Italian horror maestro Dario Argento (Suspiria, Deep Red) turn his masterful directorial hand to a period piece, whilst still injecting proceedings with all the expected visual flair and gruesome gore. Featuring lead performances from Asia Argento (The Stendhal Syndrome) and Julian Sands (Warlock, Boxing Helena) as the titular villain, alongside expert cinematography from veteran DP Ronnie Taylor (Gandhi) and a lush, orchestral score from Ennio Morricone (The Good, the Bad and the Ugly), Vinegar Syndrome is thrilled to raise the curtain on Argento’s THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, newly restored in 4K from its original negative and loaded with a bewitching array of new and archival bonus features.

Made in Hong Kong: Volume #2

(NEW YORK CHINATOWN / BEST OF THE BEST / FINAL JUSTICE)

| VS-525 CASE |

In-Gear Film | 1982-1996 | 295 min (combined) | 1.85:1 | Cantonese, Mandarin Mono
Directed by Stanley Wing Siu, Herman Yau, Derek Chiu
Starring: Alan Tang, Melvin Wong, Don “The Dragon” Wilson, Jacky Cheung, Sammi Cheng, Man-Tat Ng, Sean Lau, Eric Tsang, Carman Lee, Almen Wong

This special limited edition 3-disc Blu-ray set comes with a spot gloss hard slipcase + slipcover combo (designed by Sean Longmore), includes a 40-page perfect bound book and is limited to 6,000 units. It is only available on our website and at select indie retailers. Absolutely no major retailers will be stocking them.

The cinema of Hong Kong is sometimes pigeonholed by outsiders, but a closer look reveals a vast array of styles and topical matters deftly handled by its many directors. Whereas Made in Hong Kong: Volume #1 focused on Category II & III horror films, this second volume expands the concept by showcasing broad diversity through three very distinct, powerful features. From gritty, exploitation action on the streets of Manhattan to drunkenly dancing in the rain, and from hiding out in Macau to the high tension of a courtroom, Made in Hong Kong: Volume #2 delivers a bold, wide-ranging trio of rarities.

In NEW YORK CHINATOWN (aka New York Chinatown Massacre), the rarest of these three films, production did indeed land in 1980s New York City, telling a tale of inter-Triad conflict and betrayal on the streets of Manhattan’s grimy Chinatown back when such filmmaking was still feasible for a non-Hollywood production. The film boasts eye-popping street scenes of the legendary Deuce (and its storied grindhouse cinemas) shot earlier in the 1980s, and action scenes as raw as the surroundings in which they were shot. Starring Alan Tang (Flaming Brothers), Melvin Wong (Yes, Madam!), and directed by Stanley Wing Siu (The Avenging Quartet), it also features the screen debut of actor/kickboxing champ Don “The Dragon” Wilson (Bloodfist, New York Ninja) in his only Hong Kong production.

The police drama takes on a new twist in BEST OF THE BEST from director Herman Yau (Ebola Syndrome), as second-generation policeman Dee aims to be the proud supercop his troubled father was not. But when working with his elite Flying Tigers unit brings him into contact with Heidi, the spark between them is immediate, and romance ensues — even in the face of Heidi’s notorious father, a cop-hating Triad leader. Meanwhile, Dee’s own father, an alcoholic former-cop-turned-nightclub-host, tries to ease tensions, but serious, violent conflict is inevitable. A wild and highly stylized mix of action, suspense, and drama starring Jacky Cheung (Days of Being Wild), Sammi Cheng (Infernal Affairs), and featuring an exceptional performance by Man-Tat Ng (Shaolin Soccer).

FINAL JUSTICE explores faith, justice, and loyalty, as Catholic priest Father Lee regularly endures giving forgiveness to Kim, a depraved gangster (and media mogul) who routinely demands absolution after his crimes. When Lee crosses paths with Donna, a woman attracted to the worst kind of men, he betrays his orders for a night of sexual abandon with her. After Donna accuses Lee of rape, Kim defends the priest and pays for his legal defense. Struggling between the Church, the legal system, and Lee’s own beliefs, and with the handover of Hong Kong to China in the background, an eerie uncertainty colors both courtroom scenes and attempts to entrap Kim. This underseen powerhouse drama was directed by Derek Chiu (The Log) and stars Sean Lau (Mad Detective), Eric Tsang (Comrades, Almost a Love Story), and Carman Lee (The Wicked City).

  • 3-disc Set: Region A and B Blu-rays

New York City professor Axel Freed (James Caan, The Godfather) is in crippling debt due to gambling addiction. He owes over forty thousand dollars to his bookie Hips (Paul Sorvino, Goodfellas), who has mob connections and threatens violence against Axel if he doesn’t pay his debts. Managing to borrow enough money from his mother to pay what he owes, Axel flees town with his girlfriend Billie (Lauren Hutton, American Gigolo) for Las Vegas, which thrusts him back into the world of gambling, resulting in an anxiety-inducing spiral of unpaid debts, violence and despair.

Angela de Marco (Michelle Pfeiffer, Scarface) is married to Frank “Cucumber” de Marco (Alec Baldwin, Miami Blues), who is murdered for having an affair with the mistress of mob boss Tony “The Tiger” Russo (Dean Stockwell, Blue Velvet). Following Frank’s sudden departure, Angela trades her Long Island environs for New York City, catching the eye of Tony, and the FBI, in the process. As Angela begins a casual tryst with undercover FBI agent Mike Downey (Matthew Modine, Full Metal Jacket), the case against Tony continues to mount, resulting in a bullet-ridden climax.

In 1958, commercial producer Frank P. Bibas began production on a television anthology series for the legendary Hal Roach Studios centered around classic horror titan Boris Karloff. Predating One Step Beyond, The Twilight Zone, and Thriller, THE VEIL crafted each episode around mysterious and unexplainable phenomena, including time travel, ESP, reincarnation, astral projection, and the supernatural. Despite it being an era ripe with science fiction and horror, the dozen episodes of THE VEIL, all of which featured a top-tier cast and crew, never saw broadcast and then vanished completely for decades.

Featuring Boris Karloff as host (in all but the original version of the pilot) and cast in lead or supporting roles in each episode but one, THE VEIL harnessed in its short time a noteworthy array of talent from both behind and in front of the camera. Writers on the series included Jack Laird (Night Gallery) and Lásló Vadnay (Flesh and Fantasy), and among the directors were Arthur Hiller (The Hospital, Silver Streak), George Waggner (The Wolf Man, TV’s Batman), and Herbert L. Strock (How to Make a Monster, TV’s Science Fiction Theatre). The rotating casts of on-screen talent in THE VEIL included Patrick Macnee (The Howling), Katharine Squire (The Alfred Hitchcock Hour), Torin Thatcher (The Snows of Kilimanjaro), Niall MacGinnis (Island of Terror), Denise Alexander (TV’s Days of our Lives), Whit Bissell (Soylent Green), and the first on-screen appearance of George Hamilton (Love at First Bite). Iconoscope is honored to present the first official Blu-ray release of the complete series, newly scanned in 4k from rare archival film elements and featuring an array of new and archival extras, including some recently rediscovered bonuses.

Welcome Vinegar Syndrome Labs (VSL) to the VS Sub-Label family! As with each of our sub-labels we are hoping to expand and defy expectations with the diversity of films we restore and release. As the name implies, VSL will serve as a kind of testing area for releasing genres and eras of film that one might not immediately expect to come from VS. The ultimate objective of VSL will be to see if these types of films will find an audience, and if so, pursue and release more of them…and even if not, still serve as a means of restoring more of the weird, rare, and unusual movies you might not expect from Vinegar Syndrome.

This special limited edition spot gloss slipcover (designed by Shea Hardacre) is limited to 3,000 units and is only available on our website and at select indie retailers. Absolutely no major retailers will be stocking them.

On an expedition deep into the Himalayas, Dr. Frank Parrish would rather keep things focused on his real mission—obtaining biological samples. But as he, his photographer, and their Sherpa troop press on into the harsh, frigid wilderness, he is forced to accept one truth he’d rather not. His lead guide not only insists that a Yeti really exists, but it’s absconded with his wife, and now the Sherpa have overtaken Parrish’s mission in order to rescue her. Not only is the Yeti real, they manage to extract it from Asia and fly it to Los Angeles, all in the predictable name of science. That is, until it breaks free and threatens to cause havoc across the city!

THE SNOW CREATURE came at a critical point in the Atomic Age 1950s, as it represents a reworking of the older King Kong story into an entirely new piece of lore, exploiting the increasing interest in the Abominable Snowman. Directed by W. Lee Wilder (Killers from Space, and brother of director Billy Wilder), written by his son Myles Wilder (TV’s The Dukes of Hazzard), and starring Paul Langton (TV’s Peyton Place, The Incredible Shrinking Man), Teru Shimada (You Only Live Twice, King Rat), and William Phipps (The War of the Worlds, Messenger of Death), this historic B-thriller played both drive-ins and regional television well into the 1960s. The half man/half monsters at Vinegar Syndrome Labs are delighted to bring you this wooly trendsetter scanned and restored from its 35mm fine grain master.

The Films of Hisayasu Satô: Volume #3

(Kyrie Eleison / Rafureshia / Turtle Vision)

| PL-003 CASE |

1991-1995 | 186 min (combined) | 1.85:1 | Japanese 1.0 Mono
Directed by Hisayasu Satô
Starring: Takeshi Itô, Kinako, Yumi Yoshiyuki, Kiyomi Itô, Rei Takagi, Naomi Sugishita, Miki Fukada

The 1970s through 1990s saw a boom in transgressive genre filmmaking throughout Asia, but particularly in Japan where the “Pinku Eiga” became one of the most popular types of films produced in the country. With young filmmakers seizing an opportunity to hone their craft, countless soon-to-be celebrated directors created work which were more daring, unusual, and often shocking than just about any of the other genre cinema ergering across the globe. Pink Line will present exclusive new restorations of select works from key Asian erotic filmmakers, with a focus on Japan’s Pinku Eiga genre.

This special limited edition Blu-ray comes with a spot gloss hard slipcase + slipcover combo (designed by Steak Mtn.), includes a 40-page perfect bound book, and is limited to 4,000 units. It is only available on our website and at select indie retailers. Absolutely no major retailers will be stocking them.

A master of combining the macabre with nihilistic and ill-fated character studies of women on the brink of madness, this third volume of THE FILMS OF HISAYASU SATÔ collects a trio of the master filmmaker’s most unsettling (and unpredictable) looks at doomed and demented relationships, all newly restored in 2K from their 35mm original camera negatives, under Satô’s supervision, and presented by Pink Line on Blu-ray for the first time.

Satô’s study of the psychosexual world of loneliness, KYRIE ELEISON tells the story of a socially isolated medical researcher who begins a series of bizarre experiments she hopes may heal her boyfriend left comatose after an accident. But as her wild experiments in wiretapping have increasingly violent and masochistic results, the lines between reality and nightmare start to irreparably blur.

In RAFURESHIA, Satô takes a much lighter, almost absurdist tone, in this equally bizarre approach to the Pink film, as he explores the interwoven lives of a set of very different women, as each tries to explore and harness their sexuality in the face of unavoidable abuse. Set in an almost fairytale arc, albeit one with incestuous fathers, dominatrixes, and lecherous homeless men, RAFURESHIA plays with mood and comedy with surprising results.

Satô updates the tropes of a classic “rape and revenge” drama in the highly voyeuristic TURTLE VISION, as a traumatized young woman grows into a cynical and vengeful adult, focusing her carnal and often bloodthirsty rage on the men who court her. Dramatically photographed with exemplary use of Satô’s fixation on video and TV monitors, the story is framed around a professional cameraman (working for an unknown shadowy outfit) whose work takes him to shoot covert footage of sexual acts.

Written by frequent Lewis collaborator Allison Louise Downe (BLOOD FEAST), THE GIRL, THE BODY, AND THE PILL is an Afterschool Special from hell that finds teenager Randy Hunt (Nancy Lee Noble, SHE-DEVILS ON WHEELS) navigating sex-ed madness, a psychotic father, and questionable facts about birth control pills. It’s the day after Christmas in suburban Florida, and Billy 5000 (Jack Corbett) and his friends drift through the sun-bleached limbo between holidays by slacking, shoplifting, and beatboxing. In between sneaking into pools and zoning out on the beach, Billy hustles for tips on the food-on-demand app Grubster, determined to make exactly $5,000 before New Year’s Eve. As he zigzags across town on his hoverboard delivering fast food to a cast of oddball locals, a routine drop-off at the Dolphin Groves Juice Company leads to an unexpected reunion with Rozebud (Miya Folick), his childhood crush, and a mysterious alien creature named Donut that’s stowed away in his backpack. The surprise encounter sets off a surreal chain of events that puts Billy in the crosshairs of Dr. Dolphin (Janeane Garofalo), a ruthless juice mogul who will stop at nothing to reclaim her extraterrestrial property.

Directed by Julian Glander in his signature tactile, lo-fi CGI style, Boys Go to Jupiter transforms the sprawl of suburban Florida into a pastel purgatory of empty strip malls, algorithmic music, and adolescent yearning. What begins as a quest for financial freedom slowly evolves into an offbeat odyssey of love, labor, and late-capitalist absurdity, as Billy is forced to decide how far he’ll go to protect his friends—and his future. With its deadpan humor, musical detours, and deeply felt strangeness, the film reimagines the coming-of-age comedy as a vapor-soaked fable for the burnout generation.

Lost and nihilistic drifter Utamaro chances upon Giko, a female-presenting shoplifter who immediately catches his eye. One thing leads to another and the couple soon find themselves on the lam for murder. This provides for a delightful pretext to explore notions of societal malaise, free love and gender fluidity in a rapidly evolving 1970s Japan, as both Utamaro and Giko begin to know each other on the road by way of a variety of encounters, alternating between surrealistic, psychedelic and sexual.

The sole feature film directed by Isao Fujisawa, who learned his craft as an assistant director to Hiroshi Teshigahara on New Wave classics such as Woman in the Dunes and The Face of Another, Bye Bye Love is a deeply personal reckoning with sexual identity. Bridging the distance between Pierrot le fou, Bonnie and Clyde and Funeral Parade of Roses with an impeccable sense of style, splashes of Godardian color as well as strong anti-imperialist and existentialist themes, this iconic jishu eiga (self-produced film) was long thought lost until recently shepherded towards restoration by director and programmer Akihiro Suzuki. A new landmark of Japanese queer cinema, it is now distributed in North America for the very first time in 50 years.

“Anticipates the transgressive New Queer Cinema movies of Gregg Araki and Gus Van Sant…” — Luke Goodsell, Metrograph

“A veritable unicorn fossil unearthed from the Pleistocene bogland of 1974 and spit-shined for our retro-retro delectation… Bye Bye Love is pure snot-nosed anti-establishment indie heaven…” — Michael Atkinson, The Village Voice

“Presciently offers an accomplished representation of queer love and genderfluid identity nailing both ends of the trans experience: the reassuring euphoria when gender identity and presentation align and the thorny, insidious envy of cisgender people.” — Ren Scateni, BFMAF

From arthouse to Canuxploitation, Canadian International Pictures (CIP) is devoted to resurrecting vital, distinctive, and overlooked triumphs of Canadian cinema. This label is focused on the country’s original cinematic boom years – spanning the ’60s, ’70s, and ’80s – occasionally venturing past that period (and the country’s borders) to highlight the films of Canada’s most inspired actors and filmmakers. Vinegar Syndrome’s sister company, OCN Distribution, is thrilled to be representing CIP’s brand new line of home video releases!

This listing is for the standard edition Blu-ray. The limited edition slipcover (designed by Tony Stella) was limited to 2,000 units and is sold out. The two versions are identical, aside from the slipcover.

Who next becomes the keeper of the beast that lives on human flesh?

During a New Year’s Eve snowmobiling trip, Jenny (Rabid’s Riva Spier), her boyfriend Marty (The Grey Fox’s Murray Ord), and their friend Chrissy (Sheri McFadden) veer off path to explore a patch of private property. Stranded by a heavy snowfall, they stumble upon an abandoned hotel and seek refuge for the night. But before long, they meet a menacing woman (Rad’s Georgie Collins) who shares the building with her knife-wielding son (The High Country’s Bill Grove) and a mysterious creature who feeds on human flesh. As the visiting trio comes under attack, they struggle to make a safe escape – and maintain their grip on reality.

Featuring haunting performances from its entire cast and a typically atmospheric score by Paul Zaza (My Bloody Valentine), James Makichuk’s Ghostkeeper is an essential entry in the New Year’s Eve horror canon and a dread-inducing descent into wintery isolation and madness. Long regarded as the Canadian answer to Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining, this slasher staple is a Canuxploitation classic and one of the enduring highlights of the tax shelter era.

On an unforgiving, snow-swept frontier, a group of bloodthirsty bounty hunters, led by the vicious Loco (Klaus Kinski) prey on a band of persecuted outlaws who have taken to the hills. Only a mute gunslinger named Silence (Jean-Louis Trintignant) stands between the innocent refugees and the corrupt bounty hunters. But, in this harsh, brutal world, the lines between right and wrong are not always clear, and good does not always triumph. Featuring superb photography and a haunting score from maestro Ennio Morricone, director Sergio Corbucci’s bleak, brilliant and violent vision of an immoral, honorless West is widely considered to be among the best and most influential Westerns ever made.

After enduring months of a fruitless police investigation into the disappearance of their daughter, a young, estranged couple, Junyang and Peiying, realize they are being filmed surreptitiously when they begin receiving mysterious packages at their door containing DVDs with footage of their daily lives. The moments captured are unnerving not only for the violation of their privacy, but for what is exposed about Junyang and Peiying’s relationship on a most intimate level. Suspecting the voyeur is responsible for taking their daughter, the couple embark on a desperate mission to seek him out, only to find the truth of his identity is more complicated than it seems.

Featuring legendary Taiwanese actor Lee Kang-sheng, STRANGER EYES “transmogrifies what looks at first like a creepy crime thriller into something much more tricksy, potent and ultimately puzzling, yet still rooted in recognizable human fragility,” (The Hollywood Reporter). Referencing other surveillance thrillers like Michael Haneke’s CACHE and Alfred Hitchcock’s REAR WINDOW, Singaporean filmmaker Yeo Siew Hua’s latest feature is a timely update to the genre as a meditation on voyeurism in the digital age and the contradictory desires around being seen.

The Horrific Story inspired by true Events…

Ti West’s Trigger Man leads the charge in a new wave of stripped-down, scary movies fueled by seat-of-the-pants filmmaking ingenuity.

Reggie, Sean, and Ray leave Manhattan for a day trip of deer hunting in Delaware, expecting to drink a few beers in the woods free of the city-life responsibilities that are slowly forcing the childhood friends apart. But with one well-aimed shot, a walk in the sun is transformed into a frantic and desperate fight for survival, as Trigger Man morphs from a character-driven rural amble into a “”smartly compact and radical survival thriller (Variety). Writer, director, and editor Ti West (The Roost, Cabin Fever II) expertly exploits audience expectations, using minimalist handheld photography to relentlessly build tension to “a genuinely terrifying payoff” (New York Sun).

Saturn’s Core Audio & Video is a New Jersey based home video label devoted to releasing underground oddities and shot on video cinema on VHS, and now, blu-ray discs! In partnership with OCN Distribution, Saturn’s Core will exhume forgotten or under-seen genre cinema from the 80s and 90s, with an emphasis on SOV horror features. Outrageous…Revolting…Abrasive…Tasteless…These are just a few of the adjectives that define the polarizing work of punk musician turned transgressive filmmaker Joe Christ. Combining the gross-out provocations of early John Waters with the penurious, confrontational shock aesthetics of Nick Zedd, Christ utilized video as his primary medium to rail  against the cinematic boundaries of general decency and good taste. Saturn’s Core is proud to present the first volume in the complete filmography of Joe Christ, which conjures up a disturbing worldview populated solely by victims and their potential assailants; an unsettling portrait of early ‘90s American white trash culture teetering on the brink of psychosis.

Communion in Room 410 (1988) presents a cinema vérité variation on the Last Supper replete with nudity, self-mutilation, and blood drinking. Speed Freaks with Guns (1991) chronicles the murderous home movies of a raving, paranoid amphetamine addict. In Crippled (1992), a bed-ridden, disabled woman is repeatedly abused by her amoral caretakers. Acid Is Groovy Kill the Pigs (1993) follows Christ on a homicidal, acid-fueled road “trip” that’s loosely inspired by the real life, Jeffrey MacDonald / Fatal Vision murders. Sex, Blood & Mutilation (1995) unfolds as a shocking, Mondo-style video freakshow featuring appearances by David Aaron Clark (We Await), Tattoo Mike Wilson (War is Menstrual Envy), and industrial pioneer Genesis P-Orridge (Throbbing Gristle, Psychic TV).

Resurrection Of Eve

1973 | 84 min | 1.37:1 | English DTS-HD MA 1.0
Directed by Jon Fontana and Artie Mitchell
Starring: Marilyn Chambers, Mimi Morgan, Nancy Weich, Johnny Keyes

San Francisco based Jim & Artie Mitchell were at the forefront of bringing the sexual revolution to American cinema. Working within their filmmaking collective known as Cinema 7, the brothers and their group of regular artistic collaborators created dozens of intelligent, thought provoking, and radically minded erotic feature and short films. Mitchell Brothers Film Group will bring their extraordinary body of work to Blu-ray and 4K UHD in deluxe, restored editions, many of which will be coming to disc for the first time.

This special limited edition Blu-ray comes with a spot gloss hard slipcase + slipcover combo (designed by Robert Sammelin), includes a 40-page perfect bound book, and is limited to 3,000 units. It is only available on our website and at select indie retailers. Absolutely no major retailers will be stocking them.

With ocean waves crashing below, Eve sits by herself atop a cliff. Suddenly a man approaches her; the man who will change her life forever. Her memories of childhood torment slowly give way to the optimism of young adulthood, and a chance at happiness with successful DJ Frank Paradise, but everything changes in a near-fatal instant when a car crash leaves Eve disfigured. While her new face emerges and her scars start to heal, she must now accept that those who seemed to love her may not have had Eve’s true desires and best interests in mind. The chains of conformity begin to strain as Eve learns the value of overcoming her deep-rooted guilt and repression.

Following the sensational success of Behind the Green Door, the Mitchell Brothers felt they needed to create something even bigger and more meaningful as a follow-up. With their regular cinematographer Jon Fontana, taking on co-directing duties along with Artie Mitchell, RESURRECTION OF EVE was another instant smash hit, infused with pointed commentary on race and women’s liberation. Starring as the three versions of Eve, Marilyn Chambers (Insatiable), along with Mimi Morgan (Femmes DeSade) and Nancy Weich in their feature film debuts, the film also boasts a strong supporting performance from Johnnie Keyes (Heavenly Desire). With a tremendous original soundtrack by Richard Wynkoop and extraordinary visuals and editing by Jon Fontana and Mark Bradford EVE further elevated the art of erotica and at last comes to Blu-ray newly restored in 4k from the Mitchell Brothers Film Group.
