One of the founders of the epochal film magazine Cahiers du Cinéma, and therefore a prime mover of the French New Wave, Doniol-Valcroze joined all the upstart critics making films in the late ‘50s-early 60s with this decadent debut, a cynical drama about upper-class indolence and betrayal. The game-players in question, arriving at a spectacular villa for the reading of a matriarch’s will, include guileless city girl Milena (Françoise Brion), her lawyer ex-boyfriend Miguel (Gérard Barray), and her long-unseen cousins, Fifine (Alexandra Stewart) and Jean-Paul (Jacques Riberolles) – except Jean-Paul is actually Fifine’s boyfriend Robert, passing himself off as a member of the family. The couple maintains an open “arrangement,” and so the gathering becomes a round of duplicity, swapped partners, and heartbreak.
The third couple is the satyric butler (Michel Galabru) and the new chambermaid he hires (Bernadette Lafont), expecting her to be an easy sexual conquest. Doniol-Valcroze conducts this circus with a restrained hand, lending what could’ve been either a tragic art film or a fizzy comedy the tempered air of emotional realism. Less reserved is the house itself, the Chateau d’Aubiry in the south of France, which dominates every frame like an extravagant seventh character, and the boppy soundtrack by Serge Gainsbourg, the title tune of which was his first hit.

Focused on genre-defying films, Kani aims to expand the canon, bolster up-and-coming filmmakers and reintroduce repertory classics in context. Ayumi (Reiko Kataoka) juggles between her work as a call-girl and a life with a boyfriend unable to get into college. Soon, she meets Rei (Sawa Suzuki), a seasoned dominatrix aspiring to become a theatre actor, who spends her free time rehearsing with a troupe that blurring the line between the stage and the bedroom. At the terminus of the Japanese Bubble era, brilliantly evoked here by neon-lit streets and chic interiors, both women bring us into their nocturnal orbit: a life dedicated to the pursuit of pleasure, camaraderie and the joys of hanging out in the thriving, horny districts of Shinjuku and Shibuya.
Marketed in some territories as a sequel to Ryu Murakami’s moody Tokyo Decadence (1992), Banmei Takahashi’s A New Love in Tokyo unfolds as its tonal opposite: less a somber sexploitation film than an unexpectedly sex-positive workplace comedy ripe for rediscovery. Based on a book of essays by Kei Shimamoto that brings the reader into a bustling erotic underworld, the film is also notable for featuring cult photographer Nobuyoshi Araki as one of its key collaborator. A glimpse into a bygone era of Japanese eroticism, A New Love in Tokyo provided pinku, V-cinema and Director’s Company veteran Banmei Takahashi (Door, Door II) with a bridge towards a broader range of human experience and pathos.

Middle-aged and erratic, Oscar is a failed writer who has given up on life. Unemployed and living with family, he wanders the streets of Medellín in a drunken stupor, lamenting the state of literature in his home country, where he has succumbed to the cliché of the tortured artist. However, the opportunity to mentor a young student offers a chance at redemption, if he doesn’t screw it up first. In a performance marked by darkly comic pathos, first-time actor Ubeimar Rios stars in Simón Mesa Soto’s Un Certain Regard Jury Prize-winner A Poet, a raw and riotous farce about how good deeds are often met with the universe’s idea of cruel and unusually poetic punishment.

Two master filmmakers, Abba Kiarostami (A Taste of Cherry) and Jafar Panahi (The Circle, Taxi) team up as writer and director, respectively, on Crimson Gold, a subtle tragedy on class conflict in modern Iran. Hussein (Hossain Emadeddin, a real-life pizza delivery man who has schizophrenia) is a lumbering war veteran swollen by cortisone (for war-induced pain) and reduced to delivering pizzas at night. Through his nightly rounds, he bears witness to the rewards and vanities of the city’s wealthy. He is humiliated when a jewelry shop owner won’t allow him in his store, and under pressure to get married, Hussein awkwardly aspires to higher ground. When an eccentric socialite gives him a taste of luxury, Hussein can no longer accept his lowly status. Kiarostami based the story on an actual newspaper account of a botched robbery attempt at a Tehranian jewelry store by a desperate pizza deliveryman.

Somewhere high in the Alps, a lone rider makes his way along a hidden path and reaches a small village, tucked away between the steep mountains. This stranger goes by the name of Greider; nobody knows where he’s from and, met with blatant distrust, nobody wants him in the village. The sons of Old Brenner, the village patriarch who holds the entire community under his threatening, violent ways, would have chased him away if Greider hadn’t given them a fistful of gold coins. Greider introduces himself as a photographer, and Brenner’s sons provide him with shelter for the winter at the house of widow Gader and her young daughter, Luzi. Soon to be married to her sweetheart, Lukas, Luzi is full of trepidation as the big day draws near because, in this valley, a wedding comes with a terrible tradition. And whoever opposes this tradition will be subjected to a merciless punishment.
In the depths of winter, the village cut off by snowfall and barely a ray of sunlight reaching the valley, a tragic accident leads to the death of one of Brenner’s beloved sons. When another son is mysteriously killed, it’s clear this is not a coincidence: the time has come for Brenner’s family to pay, and Greider plans to settle a score long forgotten by everyone but him.

Ten genre film critics from the HORRORDVDZONE website converge at a warehouse for a party on the eve of attending a local horror convention. Shortly after their guest of honor, the infamous indie scream queen Raven Rinaldi (Leanna Chamish) arrives, the power is cut and the doors are electrified trapping everyone inside the building. Unfortunately for the unsuspecting guests, a mysterious masked assassin begins murdering the attendees using a variety of gruesome methods; recreating the notorious kill scenes from the various movies reviewed on their website. Turns out the killer is a deranged, jilted filmmaker who is deteremined to enact revenge on all of the critics who gave disparaging reviews to his rebuffed slasher opus “Dead Hunt.”
Brimming with practical gore and sumptuous sleaze, Dead Hunt marks the final directorial effort from Baltimore, Maryland’s legendary, low-budget maestro Don Dohler (Night Beast, The Alien Factor, Fiend) and his Timewarp Films collaborator Joe Ripple (Harvesters, Stakes) and remains an elusive puzzle piece in the Dohler oeuvre as well as an underseen SOV slasher curio from one of the Mid-Atlantic’s most beloved and inspiring regional horror auteurs. Diane, the soulful and lovingly crafted first narrative feature from Kent Jones, is a portrait of a late middle-aged woman (Mary Kay Place, for whom the part was written) and the physical and emotional landscape of her tightly knit world of family, friends and her troubled son (Jake Lacy). Time rushes by, heartbreak and devastating loss are quickly followed by regeneration and unexpected kindnesses, and everything is haunted and colored by memory and intimations of mortality. Meanwhile, life never stops. Jones, who has played a prominent role in the world of cinema and the consciousness of its history—as writer, programmer, festival director, foundation leader, screenwriter, documentarian and decades-long collaborator with Martin Scorsese—has created something new and rare: a film that moves and pulses with the rhythm of everyday life as lived by a woman who gives all of herself to others.

In 2025, The Gits returns with a 20th Anniversary Edition, reigniting the powerful legacy of one of punk rock’s most urgent and underrecognized bands. This gripping documentary traces the meteoric rise of The Gits and their magnetic frontwoman, Mia Zapata — whose fearless voice and raw presence left an indelible mark on the Seattle music scene before her life was tragically cut short in 1993.
Featuring electrifying live performances, rare archival footage, and candid interviews with bandmates, peers, and friends like Joan Jett, Kathleen Hanna, members of 7 Year Bitch and more, The Gits delivers an intimate and unflinching portrait of a band whose sound captured both ferocity and vulnerability. Rather than framing Zapata solely as a tragic figure, the film celebrates her as a visionary artist whose voice still resonates more than three decades later.
With amplified visuals, rare audio, and a renewed urgency in its message, The Gits is more than a documentary — it’s a timeless testament to artistic legacy, community, and resilience.

Four more trailblazing classics from the dawn of Québec’s cinematic revolution
Between Sweet and Salt Water (Entre la mer et l’eau douce) – Leaving his rural hometown for the trials and tribulations of success in the city, young folksinger Claude (Orders star Claude Gauthier) begins a charged romance with waitress Geneviève (Dead Ringers’ Geneviève Bujold). Legendary filmmaker Michel Brault’s celebrated fiction feature debut transposed the intimacy and immediacy of his vérité work and brought new legitimacy to independent cinema in Québec.
Where Are You? (Où êtes-vous donc?) – Coming together across an extended road trip to Montréal, Christian, Georges, and Mouffe each forge a unique path in the face of an increasingly consumerist society. Filmmaker Gilles Groulx’s follow-up to The Cat in the Bag is an intoxicating formal kaleidoscope that pushes cinematic language to its limits.
Geneviève – Traveling to Québec City for a winter carnival, teenagers Geneviève (Bujold) and Louise (A Woman in Transit‘s Louise Marleau) experience the joys and disillusionment of a young love affair with Bernard (Bernard Arcand) in Michel Brault’s first collaboration with Bujold.
Fabienne (Fabienne sans son jules) – Restless with local celebrity and longing for a lead role in a film, free-spirited chanteuse Fabienne (famed Québécois singer Pauline Julien) relentlessly pursues an offscreen Jean-Luc Godard in this early short from Jacques Godbout (YUL 871).

In the seedy underbelly of Manilla, teenage runaway Zion links up with a group of queer street hustlers who lead him on a heated journey of self-discovery in the tempting and dangerous nocturnal city.
Petersen Vargas’s propulsive, erotic drama, Some Nights I Feel Like Walking, artfully utilizes a roadtrip structure to disguise what becomes “a beautiful rumination on the significance of chosen family in the queer community, and the lengths we sometimes have to go to to achieve it.” (Frameline)

In 1916, while war rages in the Ottoman Empire, Hussein raises his younger brother Theeb (“Wolf”) in a traditional Bedouin community that is isolated by the vast, unforgiving desert. The brothers’ quiet existence is suddenly interrupted when a British Army officer and his guide ask Hussein to escort them to a water well located along the old pilgrimage route to Mecca. So as not to dishonor his recently deceased father, Hussein agrees to lead them on the long and treacherous journey. The young, mischievous Theeb secretly chases after his brother, but the group soon find themselves trapped amidst threatening terrain riddled with Ottoman mercenaries, Arab revolutionaries, and outcast Bedouin raiders.

When her sister vanishes without a trace, Yurino follows the only clue left behind: a cryptic website linked to an abandoned apartment and a rumored destination for those seeking to end their lives. Her search leads her deep into a remote mountain village—a place that doesn’t appear on any map and doesn’t want to be found. The village is home to a disturbing community of outsiders drawn there by despair… and to the locals who claim to “save” them. Their twisted doctrine is simple: suicide is forbidden—but death is not. Those who arrive hoping to die are instead hunted, butchered, and sacrificed in acts of violence so grotesque they defy belief.
Reunited at last, Yurino and her sister must confront the horrifying truth behind the village’s crusade and fight their way through an escalating nightmare of sadistic killers and inhuman rituals. Directed by Jun’ichi Yamamoto, the film showcases the vision of a cult filmmaker working on the outer edges of Japanese horror. Known for a run of underground exploitation features, Yamamoto blends taboo subject matter, surreal imagery, and extreme violence into confrontational genre cinema that rejects conventions – securing his status as a bold, divisive voice in modern J-horror.

Before Dirk Diggler, there was John C. Holmes, the legendary adult actor who turned “Johnny Wadd” into a franchise and himself into a myth. Wadd: The Life & Times of John C. Holmes plunges into the heady 1970s and 1980s LA porn scene – the non-stop sex, the coke-fueled nights, the seedy characters, and the fatal orbit of club kingpin Eddie Nash that culminated in the Wonderland murders.
Narrated by Mike Sager, whose Rolling Stone investigation inspired the movies Boogie Nights and Wonderland, the documentary pairs rare film clips and never-before-aired crime-scene footage, with candid testimony from the people who knew him best. Featuring rare interviews with his wives and mistress, adult industry titans Larry Flynt and Ron Jeremy, and filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson, Wadd is essential viewing for audiences captivated by the rise and fall of one of porn’s most legendary figures.

THESE SEXY SISTERS SHARE EVERYTHING! The beautiful Brigitte Lahaie (SWEDISH GAS PUMP GIRLS, Jean Rollin’s FASCINATION) and uninhibited adult actress Flore Soliier star as Jenny and Juliet, a pair of swinging siblings who indulge their lusts with wild abandon in AMOROUS SISTERS, yet another vintage raunchy sex comedy from legendary exploitation film producer/director Erwin C. Dietrich (THE YOUNG SEDUCERS, BARBED WIRE DOLLS), working here under his pseudonym Michael Thomas.
The film (also known as JULCHEN UND JETTCHEN and COME PLAY WITH ME 3) tells the tale of the titular sisters, who attend an elite finishing school run by the comely Miss Brown (Barbara Moose). Though presumably more classes are on the curriculum, Jenny and Juliet are specifically interested in Miss Brown’s in-depth sex education lessons and enjoy putting their saucy teacher’s carnal knowledge to the test. And they do, in an endless series of intense, explicit sequences featuring tons of female (and male) nudity, wanton lesbian encounters and eye-opening solo acts. But unlike some of Dietrich’s standard bump ‘n’ grind fare, AMOROUS SISTERS is much more cinematic experience, featuring some rather beautiful cinematography, handsome natural locations, delirious surrealistic passages and a gorgeous score by Dietrich regular Walter Baumgartner (JACK THE RIPPER, ROLLS ROYCE BABY). Delirium Home Video is pleased to present this classic voyeuristic romp in a gloriously restored, totally uncut high definition transfer culled from Dietrich’s own digitally remastered negative. If you like tons of sex set against sumptuous scenery, AMOROUS SISTERS is the skin flick for you!

From arthouse to Canuxploitation, Canadian International Pictures (CIP) is devoted to resurrecting vital, distinctive, and overlooked triumphs of Canadian cinema. These girls do exactly what you think they do! During a winter road trip, young couple Cliff (Schitt’s Creek’s Eugene Levy) and Gloria (Black Christmas’ Andrea Martin) get lost and make an unplanned stop in Farnhamville, Ontario, a snowy small town known as “The Friendly City.” When they hear the legend of three local women with a history of murdering men, they playfully investigate. But to their horror, it seems the killers are still active, police and other locals are complicit, and they’re all feasting on the victims. When the cannibals develop an appetite for Cliff and Gloria, they race to get on the road – before they get on the menu.
A decade before achieving blockbuster status with Ghostbusters, director Ivan Reitman put himself on the map with this more unsettling stab at horror comedy featuring future icons (and SCTV stars) Levy and Martin. Drawing inspiration from the Manson family and other shocking, drug-fueled horrors of the hippie era, Cannibal Girls is a gruesome Canuxploitation classic that set the stage for the provocative horror films – including Shivers, Rabid, and the Ilsa series – Reitman went on to produce at Cinépix. The film also made a splash in the U.S. where American International Pictures added a gimmick worthy of William Castle: a “warning bell” preparing viewers for “scenes of an especially erotic or gruesome nature.”

Infamous for his arrest trial and conviction in the 1990’s for his self-published comix, artist Mike Diana also made a string of homemade films. Starting with 8mm in the early ’80s and graduating to video, Diana enlisted his own family and neighborhood kids in an array of bizarre, gross, and hilarious movies, to varied levels of completion. The 1989 feature Blood Brothers is Dianas demented update on the slasher trend. Quite literally a “backyard movie,” it mostly stars children, and what it lacks in its zero-dollar budget it makes up for with unhinged charm. Illicit substances, coat-hanger abortions, mutilation and decapitation have never been so fun.
1990’s Baked Baby Jesus is a loud, unapologetic shot-on-video revolt against the downfall of American society. As if it was designed to be seen by Diana’s enemies instead of his peers, the shorts marry together real abortion rally footage, a necrophiliac love story, and perhaps the most infamous sequence of all, a tour of the infant-only cemetery Babyland. Both films were originally traded through the mail, and have only been available directly through Mike Diana himself. Factory 25 has gone back to the original video sources and provided higher quality than ever before possible (previous versions had primitive sound dubbing and editing) and has overseen the reconstruction of several otherwise lost short films, some completed here for the first time.

“Wrestling is such a brutal business, it doesn’t surprise people that it attracts sociopaths, fame whores, coke whores, and adrenaline junkies. But why did it attract an artist?” asks Billy Corgan, frontman of The Smashing Pumpkins and wrestling promoter. It’s the central question posed in Nevermore: The Raven Effect, a documentary exploring a pivotal shift in wrestling history through the eyes of Scott Levy, also known as Raven, a brilliant, self-destructive performer who helped shape the style and tone of the no-holds-barred ECW, a notoriously extreme indie promotion known for its bloody matches and use of real weapons.
After being fired from WCW and WWF, Nevermore: The Raven Effect follows Raven’s entry into ECW, where he brought a darker, more rebellious energy that electrified fans and helped ignite the 1990s wrestling boom. The chaos in the ring was fueled by a backstage world of drugs, alcohol, and sex. From “slip and slide rhino orgies” to being revived from an overdose by an adrenaline shot to the heart and wrestling just hours later, the line between performance and reality was dangerously thin. The film shifts between Raven’s present-day reflections and his devil-may-care past, charting a wild ride marked by untimely deaths and the looming shadow of CTE. Interviews with legends like Chris Jericho, Tommy Dreamer, The Sandman, DDP, and Rob Van Dam provide an unfiltered window into the era.
Though hard-hitting, the documentary also captures moments of tenderness, pride, and nostalgia as Raven and his peers look back on what they built, despite the wreckage it left behind. Nevermore: The Raven Effect celebrates Raven’s legacy and the transformation of wrestling in the 1990s while unflinchingly confronting the brutal cost of this high-stakes, high-drama world.

An examination of the iconic 1990s indie band Pavement appears to be just another music documentary—until it isn’t. A prismatic hybrid of narrative, scripted, documentary, musical, and metatextual forms, the film intimately shows the band preparing for their sold-out 2022 reunion tour while simultaneously tracking the preparations for a musical based on their songs, a museum devoted to their history, and a big-budget Hollywood biopic inspired by their saga as the most important band of a generation.
