LOGAN LUCKY || You may have thought Steven Soderbergh had actually retired, but as soon as you start the trailer for Logan Lucky, the attribute “From the director of Ocean’s 11, 12, 13, and Magic Mike” will inform you that you are in fact wrong. Around 2013, Soderbergh had announced that he’d be retiring from filmmaking, stating: “when you reach the point where you’re saying, ‘If I have to get into a van to do another scout, I’m just going to shoot myself,’ it’s time to let somebody who’s still excited about getting in the van, get in the van.” He later rephrased his retirement as more of a “sabbatical,” which could be seen as he was directing episodes of The Knick and producing a television series based on his 2009 film The Girlfriend Experience of the same title.
