AMERICAN FACTORY

Steven Bognar | Julia Reichert | Jeff Reichert

In post-industrial Ohio, a Chinese billionaire opens a new factory in the husk of an abandoned GM plant and hires 2,000 blue-collar Americans. Early days of hope and optimism give way to setbacks as high-tech China clashes with working-class America.

FRONT-RUNNER
Currently, the Oscar experts have “American Factory” winning in a landslide. In my personal opinion, I don’t think it has enough heart to bring in the voters, something “Honeyland” and “For Sama” both have. I could see this one going in a different direction than the pundits are predicting.
