The Academy loves to recognize Nick Park and his crew. Any year one of their claymation features releases they find themselves nominated, regardless of the competition. Thankfully they’ve received some past awards because these days, they mostly face Walt Disney and Pixar features that knock them out of the competition. This year it’s “Soul” and “Onward.” And beyond those, “Wolfwalkers” is in high regard this year as well. The amount of work put into stop animation is astonishing, and it’s great seeing it be recognized. But “Soul” has likely already solidified its place as the winner here.
