LOVE AND MONSTERS
BEST VISUAL EFFECTS

In a post-apocalyptic world where the planet has been overrun by monsters of every size and shape, a young man emerges from an underground compound and sets out to join his high school girlfriend in a compound some 85 miles away.

Matt Sloan, Genevieve Camilleri, Matt Everitt and Brian Cox

When “Love and Monsters” was announced as one of the Best Visual Effects nominees, I think there was a collective gasp. The movie is surprisingly better than expected, but still not in line with most of the nominees. “Tenet” and “The Midnight Sky” have to be the front-runners here, while either Walt Disney pieces would be the ones to upset.
