There’s been a trend of International directors getting nominated in Best Directing. It happened a few years ago when “Cold War” was nominated, along with director Pawel Pawlikowski. The Academy nominated Vinterberg’s film “The Hunt” the year it came out as well, so they definitely enjoy his work. I think the nomination, however, was their way of appreciating him. With how Chloé Zhao has swept the awards season, I see her as unstoppable.

Denmark

Can anything beat “Another Round?” Likely not. It was the consensus favorite among the critics awards, was awarded by BAFTA, and remains at the top of the pundits predictions lists. Denmark will likely be receiving their fourth Academy Award.
