Best Animated Short Film

Based on an actual account of a sailor in 1917 being blown over a mile into the sky after two boats exploded, “The Flying Sailor” shows a life flashing in front of a man’s eyes. With a lit cigarette dangling out of his lips and his clothes ripped from his body, the man miraculously survived to tell the tale. How a short can evoke so many emotions and span several different animation styles in only eight minutes is beyond me.
