An unattended tram and a woman waiting in the cold are all “Night Ride” needs to set up this comical short film, with moments of genuine inclusivity. Ebba doesn’t want to wait outside at night in the cold while the tram operator runs to use the bathroom. But he’s a stickler for the rules and can’t let anyone on the tram while it’s unattended. So Ebba lets herself on the tram and, in the process, finds herself at the controls of the tram.

As unsuspecting people get on, Ebba has a front-row seat to the interaction between two people behind her. Allan is unaware that Ariel is transgender when he approaches them, but Ariel offers to take him home with her, and he happily accepts. But when Ebba messes up the tram controls, and Ariel’s wig comes off, Allan becomes fully aware of the situation.

When conflict breaks out, Ebba has to make a decision. There’s a feeling that, as a little person, Ebba doesn’t feel comfortable getting involved with this hot-headed man. She’s also just hijacked a tram for no reason. But there’s a sense of inspiration when she finally does make a stand.
