Best Animated Short Film
Lachlan Pendragon

Lachlan Pendragon went above and beyond with his short film, “An Ostrich Told Me the World Is Fake and I Think I Believe It.” What appears to be a student project that is now Oscar-nominated, Pendragon crafts a funny and thought-provoking stop-animation film. The story looks at the mundane life of an office worker who suddenly realizes he’s part of a stop-animation student film. The self-awareness and breaking of the fourth wall work wonders, although the choice to film the camera filming the animation was a choice I’d be interested in understanding what thought went behind it. Regardless, I hope Lachlan got a passing grade for this one.
