BRING HER BACK

At its core, “Bring Her Back” is about that simple, yet impossible wish: what if there was a way to bring a loved one back from the dead? And Danny and Michael Philippou’s answer leads down a dark, twisted path—a grief-soaked nightmare.
Piper (Sora Wong) is a blind teen trying to find her place, and her brother Andy (Billy Barratt) is carrying way too much trauma for someone his age. They end up with Laura (Sally Hawkins), a foster mom still grieving her daughter — oh, and she’s got a mute boy locked in a bedroom. The vibe is off immediately, even before the horror kicks in.
Sally Hawkins nails that peculiar space between comforting and creepy, but it’s Sora Wong who genuinely shines. It’s her first role ever, and she’s already got that quiet intensity that pulls you in. She makes the whole thing feel real, even as the dread creeps in.
Yes, it gets pretty gnarly in spots — but it does feel earned. Like in “Talk to Me,” the Philippou brothers use horror to get at something authentic: the way grief can twist people up inside. Not quite as tight as their debut, they still know how to make your stomach drop and your heart ache at the same time.
