Here are some numbers for you: Woody Allen has won three Academy Awards (two for “Annie Hall” for Directing and Screenplay and one for “Hannah and Her Sisters” for Screenplay). Allen has been nominated a total of 21 times: 14 as a screenwriter, six as a director, and one as an actor. Allen has been nominated for screenwriting Academy Awards (Original Screenplay mind you) more than any other screenwriter. The man is acclaimed. So you can basically count on “Midnight In Paris” getting nominated at this year’s ceremony. Though his last two films (“You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger” and “Whatever Works”) were not honored at their respected ceremonies, “Vicky Cristina Barcelona” was one of the most popular films of 2008, winning several awards at different festivals and “Midnight In Paris” appears to be Allen returning to that masterpiece work he is known for.
