There is no denying that “Boyhood” has the edge coming out of the film critics awards. But remember that the film critics are not apart of the Academy. It will all depend on whether the Academy feels like commending Richard Linklater on his 12 year efforts and supporting the independent process. Or whether they will turn to a much more pristine candidate like “Birdman”. Best Actress has still be all over the place, positioning Julianna Moore (“Still Alice”), Rosamund Pike (“Gone Girl”), and Reese Witherspoon (“Wild”) in a nice place to all get nominations. I am curious to find out if all the Mica Levi love for her Original Score in “Under The Skin” will translate into an Academy nomination.
