Quick Review: A.C.O.D. (2013)

A.C.O.D. BY CHRISTOPHER HASKELLAPRIL 18, 2014 Adam Scott leads a stellar comedic ensemble cast in a not-so-funny jaunt through exactly what the title suggests, “A.C.O.D.” or “Adult Children Of Divorce.” When you see a cast list filled with Richard Jenkins, Catherine O’Hara, Amy Poehler (playing against type), Clark Duke, Jessica Alba, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, and Jane Lynch, chances are high that most people will … Read More Quick Review: A.C.O.D. Quick Review: The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty (2013)

THE SECRET LIFE OF WALTER MITTY BY CHRISTOPHER HASKELLJANUARY 3, 2014 “The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty” is a balance of memorable moments and sincere performances from most of the main cast, especially Ben Stiller and Sean Penn. Stepping into the director’s shoes, Stiller takes on double duty and does not disappoint, playing title character Walter Mitty, an easygoing daydreamer living a reserved lifestyle. … Read More Quick Review: The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty (2013)

Movie Review: Bachelorette (2012)

BACHELORETTE BY CHRISTOPHER HASKELLSEPTEMBER 9, 2012 If not for the impressive showing from the leading ladies, “Bachelorette” would be highly lacking. Kirsten Dunst, Lizzy Caplan, and Isla Fisher display female vulgarity at its finest, with the honesty of how manipulative ladies can be, even with their closest “friends.” Inside humor runs rampant, as the allusions to past events seem incredibly close to the chest. … Read More Movie Review: Bachelorette (2012)

Movie Review: Friends With Kids (2012)

FRIENDS WITH KIDS BY CHRISTOPHER HASKELLJULY 18, 2012 Our generation’s values and opinions grow further and further from our ancestors’ with each passing year. How else do you explain our president in the White House, the dying debate on whether to make gay marriage legal, and even the premise of “Friends With Kids,” which involves two friends deciding to bring a child into the … Read More Movie Review: Friends With Kids (2012)

Movie Review: Piranha 3D (2010)

Either the money was good or the stars of “Piranha 3D” have truly fallen off the deep end. Shue, Scott, Lloyd, and Dreyfuss are too successful to be slumming in this caricature of a relevant horror remake. The graphics are obviously better than the original, 30 plus years later, but otherwise this film should have dropped the big stars, added more adult entertainers, and simply become pornography.

Movie Review: Passenger Side (2010)

Basing the entire film around Scott’s trademarked cynicism creates a genuine Indy classic worthy of mainstream status. The fact that Adam Scott has not made more of a stir in the commercial film world is mind boggling, but to have a star like Scott floating around in the Indy world is a refreshing new experience in many Indy films including his huge success in The Vicious Kind.

Movie Review: Operation: Endgame (2010)

OPERATION: ENDGAME BY CHRISTOPHER HASKELLJULY 31, 2020 Fill a room with hilarious actors playing semi-serious roles, fighting to the death and “Operation: Endgame” is the result. The hardest part of viewing “Operation: Endgame” is deciphering whether the film is trying to be a comedy or an action flick. The wacky characters mixed with sexual tension and action violence make the answer to this question … Read More Movie Review: Operation: Endgame (2010)

Movie Review: The Vicious Kind (2009)

THE VICIOUS KIND BY CHRISTOPHER HASKELLJULY 26, 2010 Strong comedic actors and dramatic performances appear to go hand in hand. Adam Sandler, Will Ferrell, and lately Robin Williams are great examples with “Punch Drunk Love,” “Stranger Than Fiction,” and “World‘s Greatest Dad” under their respected belts. However, one does not get used to comedians taking on many of these roles. When they do, however, … Read More Movie Review: The Vicious Kind (2009)
