Setting a record for the most wins by a single film at the 29th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, “Everything Everywhere All At Once” received a total of four victories, including Ke Huy Quan and Jamie Lee Curtis for their supporting roles, Michelle Yeoh for her leading role, and the ensemble cast winning the top honor of the night. Oscars Watch: 29th Screen Actors Guild Awards Nominees

Ashley Park and Haley Lu Richardson announced the nominees for the 29th Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards for film and television this morning. Many of the same names we just saw for the Golden Globes were present, like winners Cate Blanchett, Colin Farrell, and Austin Butler, who are all locks for the Oscar nominations. We also got names that didn’t appear at the Globes, like … Read More Oscars Watch: 29th Screen Actors Guild Awards Nominees

Oscars Watch: 28th Screen Actors Guild Awards

The 28th Screen Actors Guild Awards aired on TBS/TNT on Sunday night, and it felt like a step back into our regularly scheduled programming. Whether it’s headed that way or not, with COVID still lurking around every corner and a new war on the horizon, it felt like a slice of normalcy. Not only was it nice to see celebrities bumping shoulders and talking … Read More Oscars Watch: 28th Screen Actors Guild Awards

Oscars Watch: 28th Screen Actors Guild Awards Nominees

The Screen Actors Guild announced the nominees for their yearly awards, confirming certain Oscar hopefuls while ruffling some feathers with snubs and omissions. The biggest surprise has to be Kristen Stewart for her performance as Princess Diana in “Spencer,” who has been the critical darling all Oscar season. Another surprise when comparing to the critics is “The Power of the Dog” missing Best Ensemble, … Read More Oscars Watch: 28th Screen Actors Guild Awards Nominees

Oscars Watch: 27th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards

The Oscar race took one step closer to answering some of our questions Sunday night while leaving us even more puzzled with others. Taking the big Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture award was “The Trial of the Chicago 7.” Not long ago, pundits called Aaron Sorkin’s film the Best Picture front-runner for the Oscars because it had been nominated or … Read More Oscars Watch: 27th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards

Oscars Watch: 27th Screen Actors Guild Awards Nominees

Before the buzz had even died on the Golden Globe nominations from yesterday, the Screen Actors Guild announced their nominees this morning. Many of the same nominees carried over from the Globes. And many of the “mistakes” that the Hollywood Foreign Press were accused of were rectified by SAG. However, some new problems might have been raised. One of those problems is likely to … Read More Oscars Watch: 27th Screen Actors Guild Awards Nominees

Oscars Watch: 26th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards

“Parasite” wins the Screen Actors Guild Ensemble Award and suddenly, the Best Picture landscape for the 92nd Academy Awards is much tighter. “1917” may have cleaned up at the Golden Globes and PGA Awards, but “Parasite” winning here definitely puts it back in the conversation. The individual acting awards, however, seemed more than locked, as all four are exactly who have been sweeping the awards season.

Oscars Watch: 24th Annual Screen Actors Guild Award Nominees

Although I’m mostly talking to myself here and granted I have not seen the film, ever since “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri” won at Toronto, I have been quietly predicting it to go all the way, much the same way Roger Ebert predicted “Argo” to win in its year by using the same deduction. In a completely unpredictable year, where the critics awards have … Read More Oscars Watch: 24th Annual Screen Actors Guild Award Nominees

Oscars Watch: 21st Annual Screen Actors Guild Nominees

No real surprises anywhere here. Could be pretty close to what we see come Oscar nominations. Expect Jake Gyllenhaal (“Nightcrawler”) to be the top of the dark horses in the Best Actor category however, possibly pushing out David Oyelowo (“Selma”) or Timothy Spall (“Mr. Turner”). Also, with enough attention on Jennifer Aniston and her performance in “Cake,” that could also nudge her into the … Read More Oscars Watch: 21st Annual Screen Actors Guild Nominees

Oscars Watch: 20th Annual Screen Actors Guild Award Nominees

In this year’s Oscar race, the question isn’t between two films vying for the win like most years, although “Gravity” versus “12 Years A Slave” seems to be the big two, it’s whether or not you believe “The Butler” should be recognized. Supposedly snubbed by the Golden Globes nominations, SAG went the other route and is choosing to recognize Forest Whittaker and Oprah Winfrey … Read More Oscars Watch: 20th Annual Screen Actors Guild Award Nominees
